Septimus “You stand here this day, all of you, before your Eternal God—the heads of your tribes, your elders and officers, every one in Israel, men, women, and children, and the strangers in your camp, from the one who chops your wood to the one who draws your water—to enter into the sworn covenant which your Eternal God makes with you this day…” -Deuteronomy 29:9-11 Our Torah portion for Yom Kippur morning, from Parashat Nitzavim, reminds us that God made a covenant with the entire Israelite community, no matter what status you hold in society.  The Hebrew is very powerful, and in a sense, repetitious.  The “You” in “You stand here this day” is in the plural.  Just in case you did not think God was referring to the whole community, we see the addition of “all of you”.  Why did Moses and God add “all of you” to the sentence?  Click here to read the full article Rabbi Daniel A. Both men and women are welcome and training is provided. Noel House women's homeless shelter badly needs blankets for this winter season. If you would like to help and would prefer we do the shopping for you, $20 will buy a warm, fleece, twin-sized blanket.
